Putting Our Energy & Utilities Trailer to the Ultimate Test

At Catterick testing ground, we recently put one of our latest Energy & Utilities trailers through its paces. Two of our employees, Tim & Sefton, spent the day pushing this trailer to the limit, hooking it up to a Mercedes Unimog off-road vehicle to assess its performance in extreme conditions.

The testing process included:

Steep incline and decline assessments to evaluate handling on rough terrain.

Deep water wading to ensure the trailer’s resilience in flood-prone areas.

Off-road durability tests to confirm its ability to perform in disaster zones.

With each challenge, the trailer demonstrated its robust engineering, adaptability, and high-performance capabilities. Designed to withstand the toughest environments, it’s built to excel when it matters most.

About the Project

This trailer is part of a larger project for EDF Nuclear Energy, which required nine monitoring trailers to be strategically stationed around nuclear power sites in the UK. These trailers are essential for command, control, and communication in emergency response situations.

Key Requirements:

  • Towable with a 3,500kg gross weight capacity
  • Designed in collaboration with EDF & Excelerate Technologies
  • Multi-functional capabilities for monitoring and response
  • Hybrid power system for off-grid operation
  • Bespoke stowage solutions for delicate equipment
  • High-performance driving capabilities in extreme conditions

A Tailored Solution Built from the Ground Up

Our team meticulously designed and built these bespoke trailers to meet EDF’s unique requirements. Outfitted with advanced satellite and radio connectivity, these units ensure reliable communication in even the harshest environments.

Project Development Process:

  • Detailed trailer design, from chassis to electrical schematics
  • Rigorous approvals and refinements before production
  • Manufacturing process development for efficiency
  • Advanced electrical and stowage system integration

Every aspect of these trailers was engineered to provide a secure, functional and durable solution for emergency response teams.

With the successful completion of testing, we’re proud to deliver top-tier trailers that meet EDF Nuclear Energy’s high standards. This project is a testament to our expertise in custom-built, high-performance utility vehicles.
