Custom-Built BBC Broadcasting Trailer: Crafting a High-Quality Audio Console & Equipment Racks

At the heart of broadcast technology, BBC broadcasting trailers are essential tools for delivering high-quality production and broadcasting capabilities, wherever the location. One of the standout features of these trailers is the custom-built audio console and equipment racks we designed and fabricated to meet the highest standards of performance, precision and durability.

Crafting the Perfect Audio Console

When it comes to broadcast equipment, the audio console is critical for mixing, managing and distributing sound. For this project, we were tasked with building a custom audio console designed specifically for use in a BBC broadcasting trailer.

The Fabrication Process

To achieve the unique shape and precision required, we began by fabricating metal profiles. This process involved creating a custom jig to form the profiles accurately. Once the profiles were ready, we moved on to assembling the console, ensuring that every gap, joint and detail met exact tolerances. The result was a console that perfectly integrated with the equipment, providing a seamless fit for all audio mixing needs.

A Console Built for Broadcasting Excellence

Every aspect of the audio console’s design was carefully considered to ensure it could meet the demands of live broadcasting. The custom approach meant that we were able to create a robust, high-functioning unit that supports high-quality audio work in even the most challenging on-location environments.

Building Racks for the Broadcasting Unit

In addition to the audio console, we also built custom racks for the broadcasting unit. These racks play a crucial role in holding and organising the electrical equipment necessary for broadcasting, ensuring that everything is securely stored and easily accessible.

The Rack Fabrication Process

To start, our team worked with the design managers to get detailed drawings for the equipment racks. From there, our fabricator carefully reviewed these designs and created a cutting list for the materials. The fabrication process began with tack welding to create the frame structure and every dimension was checked meticulously throughout the process to ensure precision. Once everything was confirmed, the welding process began, connecting all the rack joints.

Powder Coating for Durability

Once the racks were complete, they underwent powder coating, a process where the metal frames are sprayed with an electrostatic charge to ensure a high-quality, durable finish. This coating protects the equipment from wear and tear, making it ideal for the demanding environments of broadcast units.

Ready for Broadcasting Excellence

The custom-built audio console and equipment racks are just some of the critical elements that make up this specialised BBC broadcasting trailer. Every part of the design and fabrication process was focused on ensuring that the trailer meets the rigorous demands of live broadcasting and event production.
